Our History

Mesatek and its management team have a long history providing leading edge software solutions to financial institutions throughout Canada and the United States. Here are some key milestones:


  • 1990: The Guthrie Phillips Group Inc (GPG) was founded by David Phillips and Gary Guthrie to provide speciality software to financial institutions. 
  • 1991: Herbert Fograscher joined GPG as a software developer.
  • 1992: Shane Murdoch joined GPG as a software developer.
  • 1993: GPG developed the first version of its overdue account collection system.
  • 1995: GPG developed the first version of its central clearing reconciliation system (CCR).
  • 1996: Neil Riding joined GPG as a software developer.
  • 2000: GPG released its first version of TopNotch; a web based overdue account collection system.
  • 2009: GPG was acquired by Akcelerant Software for its TopNotch customers.
  • 2009: Shane Murdoch was promoted to SVP Product Development at Akcelerant.
  • 2010: Bill Brereton joined the Akcelerant business development team.
  • 2012: Shane Murdoch founded Mesatek Software and acquired all non-collection solutions and customers from Akcelerant.
  • 2014: Mesatek upgrade all reconciliation solutions to modern technology.
  • 2015: Akcelerant was acquired by Temenos.
  • 2018: Mesatek released the first version of e-Transfer Match.
  • 2021: Mesatek released the first version of GL Match.
  • 2023: GL Match was rebranded Match-IT.
